Derek Bauer Home Search App, Powered by RealScout
Derek Bauer Home Search App, Powered by RealScout
Live Realcomp MLS listings on your phone or in your browser, with alerts the moment new homes hit the market in Brighton, South Lyon, Howell, and across Southeast Michigan.
Most home search websites pull listing data on a delay and hold onto listings that are already under contract. The search platform Derek Bauer uses with his clients runs on a direct Realcomp MLS feed, which means the listings you see, the status changes, and the price adjustments are the same data Derek works from as an Associate Broker. You draw your own search area on the map, save the searches that matter, and get alerted when something new matches. Every listing shows the full MLS record, the complete price and status history, and a timestamp for when the Realcomp data was last refreshed. Derek can see what you have saved and send you listings directly. It is built by RealScout, it is free to use, and it runs on your phone or in any browser.
How to Get Started
There are two ways in, and they share one account. Set it up once and your saved searches, favorites, and alerts follow you between them.
Step 1: Download the app
Search for RealScout Home Search, or use the direct links below. RealScout publishes a second app for licensed agents, so make sure you are installing the Home Search version.
Step 2: Register your account
Once the app is installed, tap the button below. It launches the app and connects your account to Derek so your saved searches, favorites, and questions reach him directly.
Prefer a bigger screen? Search in your browser
The same search runs on the web with no download required. Full listing detail, the same map tools, and the same Realcomp feed, sized for a desktop monitor. Sign up there and the account works in the app later.
What You Can Do With It
- Search by city, ZIP, address, or MLS number. If you have a listing number from a sign or a flyer, you can pull the property up directly.
- Draw your own search area. Instead of being locked into a city or ZIP code boundary, outline the exact area you want on the map.
- Filter on the details that matter to you. Price, square footage, acreage, bedroom and bathroom count, garage, architectural style, year built, basement, and more.
- Save searches and get alerts. When a new listing matches what you saved, you hear about it. Speed matters in a market where well-priced homes move quickly.
- Tag the details you like on any listing. Each property lists its specific attributes so you can flag what appeals to you, which sharpens what the search sends you next.
- Set an alert for homes similar to one you liked. One checkbox on any listing.
- Message Derek from inside a listing. Ask about a specific property without leaving the page or digging up a phone number.
- Print a listing. Useful when you are touring several homes in a day and want something to write on.
What You See Inside a Listing
This is where the difference from a national portal is most obvious. Each listing carries the full MLS record rather than a trimmed summary:
- Complete price and status history. The date it went live, whether it started as Coming Soon, and every price change since, with the old figure struck through next to the new one.
- Room-by-room dimensions and levels. Every room in the MLS record with its measurements and which floor it sits on.
- Construction and systems detail. Year built, foundation, construction materials, roof, heating and cooling, water source, and sewer or septic.
- The full tax picture. Assessed value, annual tax amount, and the summer and winter installments broken out separately.
- Association detail. Whether there is an association, the fee, and how often it is charged.
- Lot and parking specifics. Acreage, lot features, parcel number, garage spaces, and attached or detached.
- Full photo galleries and a map with street view.
- Listing office attribution. You can see which brokerage has the listing, displayed in accordance with NAR policies.
React to a Listing and the Search Gets Sharper
This is the part most people do not expect from a home search tool, and it is the reason the search stops feeling generic after the first week.
On every listing you can mark Interested or pass, and then go a level deeper. Each property gives you a thumbs up or thumbs down on the things that actually drive a decision:
- Floorplan and layout
- Kitchen
- Condition
- Size
- Aesthetics and style
- Yard
- View
- Price
Below that, the listing pulls out its own specific attributes so you can flag the ones that matter to you. Depending on the property that might be hardwood floors, a finished or partially finished basement, granite countertops, a porch, ranch construction, or proximity to a park or a golf course.
None of it is required. You can use the search as a plain listing feed and never touch a thumbs up. But the people who do react to listings tend to find the right home faster, because the tool and Derek are both working from real signal instead of assumptions.
Why Derek Uses This Instead of a Public Search Portal
National search portals are advertising platforms. Their listing data is licensed, refreshed on a delay, and often surrounded by paid placements from agents who have no connection to the home you are looking at. That is the business model, and it works well for the portal.
This is a different tool for a different purpose. It runs on Derek's Realcomp MLS feed, which includes the data Realcomp shares with its partner services, so the coverage is broad and the accuracy is the same accuracy Derek relies on professionally. There are no competing agent advertisements attached to the listings. When you have a question about a home, it goes to Derek.
Every listing also carries a timestamp showing when the Realcomp data was last refreshed, down to the minute. You do not have to guess whether what you are looking at is current, and you are not left wondering why a home you called about turned out to be under contract three weeks ago.
Checking Your Home's Value
The app includes a home value feature. For Southeast Michigan homeowners, Derek recommends a different tool. His home value platform delivers a monthly report on your specific property, tracks equity over time, and is built around Michigan market conditions rather than a national model.
If you are considering a sale, a home value report is a starting point rather than a listing price. Derek's pricing process, called the Bauer Pricing Strategy, combines a full Realcomp MLS read - active competition, recent closed sales, pending sales, and failed-to-sell listings - with the primary pricing anchor on live active inventory rather than older closed sales alone. That approach is the reason his lifetime list-to-sale price ratio stands at 99.08% across 1,100+ closed transactions.
If You Are Already Working With Derek
The app and the browser search are the search layer. That is where listings reach you and where you flag what interests you. Every buyer client Derek represents also receives Bauer's Buyer Hub, a private microsite built for that specific search and updated as the search progresses. The Hub covers strategy, timing, offer positioning, and the mechanics of the transaction itself.
Anyone can create a search account. Bauer's Buyer Hub comes with representation. The two work together, and you do not have to choose between them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the app free?
Yes. The app is free to download and free to use, and the browser version is free as well. There is no subscription and no charge for saved searches or alerts. Equal Housing Opportunity.
Do I have to be working with Derek to use it?
No. Registering through the link on this page connects your account to Derek so he can answer questions and send you listings, but it does not create a representation relationship and it does not obligate you to anything. Representation begins only when an Exclusive Buyer Broker Agreement is signed. Equal Housing Opportunity.
How is this different from a public home search website?
It runs on Derek's direct Realcomp MLS feed, so listing status and pricing reflect current MLS data rather than a delayed licensed copy, and every listing shows a timestamp for when that data was last refreshed. Each listing carries the full MLS record, including room-by-room dimensions, systems detail, tax breakdowns, and the complete price and status history. There are no paid agent advertisements attached to the listings, and questions about a specific property route to Derek rather than to whichever agent purchased that ZIP code. Equal Housing Opportunity.
Which areas does the app cover?
Coverage follows Derek's Realcomp MLS feed, which includes Realcomp's Southeast Michigan footprint and the listing data Realcomp shares with partner services. That covers Livingston County, Oakland County, Washtenaw County, Wayne County, and the surrounding region, including Brighton, South Lyon, Howell, Hartland, Pinckney, Milford, Whitmore Lake, Fowlerville, New Hudson, Northville, and Plymouth. Equal Housing Opportunity.
Can I check my home's value in the app?
The app includes a home value feature, but Derek directs Southeast Michigan homeowners to his home value platform instead, which produces a monthly report on your specific property and tracks equity over time. For a listing price rather than an estimate, Derek prepares a full Bauer Pricing Strategy review for your specific home. Equal Housing Opportunity.
I already work with Derek. Does this replace Bauer's Buyer Hub?
No. The app is where listings reach you and where you save what interests you. Bauer's Buyer Hub is a private microsite built for your specific search, covering strategy, timing, offer positioning, and transaction mechanics, and it is updated as your search progresses. The two serve different purposes. Equal Housing Opportunity.
What happens to my information?
Registration requires an email address, which becomes your login. Derek uses it to answer your questions and send you listings. Your information is not sold, and your account is governed by RealScout's privacy policy in addition to Derek's own practice of never sharing client contact information with third parties. Equal Housing Opportunity.
How does the search learn what I am looking for?
Every listing lets you mark whether you are interested and give a thumbs up or thumbs down on specific aspects of the property, including floorplan and layout, kitchen, condition, size, style, yard, view, and price. You can also flag individual attributes a home has, such as hardwood floors, a finished basement, or ranch construction. The search uses that feedback to sharpen what it shows you next, and Derek can see the pattern so your conversations start from real preferences rather than a general description. Equal Housing Opportunity.
What is the difference between a listing alert and a market alert?
A listing alert notifies you when an individual home matching your saved search comes on the market, and you can set one up yourself. A market alert reports on what an area's market is doing overall rather than on individual homes, and it has to be enabled by Derek. If you want a market alert for a specific area, contact Derek directly and he will set it up. Equal Housing Opportunity.
The registration link is not doing anything. What do I do?
The app registration link launches the app directly, so it only works after the app has been installed on that device. Install the app first, then return to this page on the same phone and tap the registration button. If you are on a computer, use the browser version instead and sign up there. If you are still stuck, call Derek at 734-678-4745 and he can send your setup link by email. Equal Housing Opportunity.
